BuildData Is Now on the Snowflake Marketplace

Canadian construction data is now available directly inside Snowflake. BuildData is live on the Snowflake Marketplace as a secure data share, so data teams can query Canadian building permits, business licences, development permits, planning applications, and inspections inside their own warehouse. No extracts, no ETL, and no per-city integration work.

If your stack already runs on Snowflake, you can attach the share and start joining BuildData against your own tables in a few minutes.

What you get

The Marketplace listing is a live secure share with five sample datasets, refreshed on the same pipeline as the rest of BuildData:

  • Permits: building permits with type, work description, address, value, and status
  • Licences: business licences tied to an address, by category
  • Development permits: pre-construction land-use approvals
  • Planning applications: rezoning and planning submissions
  • Inspections: building inspection results and types

Every record uses one normalized, geocoded schema across all 60 cities, so a permit in Toronto, Calgary, and Montreal looks the same. You stop reconciling municipal formats and start querying.

Why a share instead of an API

For a data team, a secure share is simpler than an API. There is nothing to host, paginate, or cache. The data shows up as governed tables in your own account, and you join it directly against your CRM, property records, or risk models. When we refresh the data, you see the update with no re-export on your side.

Sample and full dataset

The Marketplace listing is a sample, so you can evaluate the schema and coverage before you commit. The complete dataset, with full history across all 60 cities and current records, is available as a private Snowflake share or through the BuildData API. Reach out through the listing to arrange a private share.

Who it is for

  • Proptech and real estate: track new construction, renovations, and development pipelines
  • Construction intelligence: monitor activity and surface upcoming projects
  • Mortgage and insurance: verify permitted work and assess property condition
  • Urban planning and research: analyse construction patterns and housing supply

Add BuildData to your Snowflake account and start querying Canadian construction data.
